Is there a faster bootloader? One that doesn’t ask me to select a
boot device (“Press F1-F4 for disk or 1-4 for partition” stuff) nor
ask me to press ESC for .altboot?
I just need something that I can put in the disk’s MBR and boot “.boot”
in a hurry
Thanks,

I believe this was discussed at www.openqnx.com forums, I will see if I can
find the exact URL for it.

http://www.openqnx.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t2407-.html
but it’s “inconclusive” – i.e., it kinda says “this might work, or you might
need to do something similar”…
Worst case I’ll reverse engineer the existing one and write my own, but I was
hoping to avoid that.

Done; thanks to all who helped.
You can read about it here – it speeds up the primary and secondary boot
loaders and is intended for deeply embedded x86 boxen with BIOSes.
