QNX2 Date

Sorry for posting to this group, but seems the QNX2 one is gone.

I am having problems with the ‘date’ command under QNX2.21
If I log as a super user ($ prompt) then the date command works as expected
and changes the date in the machine. If I log as a normal user (% prompt)
the command works on some machines but not on others, in the ones it doesn’t
work it doesn’t complaint, it just ignores the command and leave the date
intact. I have been unable to find out the difference between a machine that
works and one that doesn’t work, seems all the attributes are the same.

Anyone have an idea?

Thank you,

Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

Haven’t much experience with QNX2, so this is a shot in the dark. If QNX2 has
the same ability to have a sticky bit on binarys (allows the binary to be
run as the root user no matter who runs it). Then this may have been enabled
on the date utility (this must be done by the root user).

Just an idea, not sure how accurate it is though.

E.
