The email I have on here isn’t valid due to spam. I just emailed my real

Could you recommend a good book that would help me configure XFree86?
I’m
gonna need to crash course X11 programming / configuration including
figuring out how to get our old (X11R5) Motif running under it as well.
sent you an email.
people here aren’t too much interested in X/Motif stuff.
after all, Photon is the choice of GUI on QNX .

Thanks much!

Thanks again for the info!
I’ve managed to get XFree86 running, however, when I try to run our
old
apps, it gives me:
Error: Can’t open display: :0.0
Assuming your machine’s IP is 1.2.3.4
you can do
xhost +1.2.3.4
export DISPLAY=1.2.3.4:0
then run your old apps and see.
Frank
Is there a simple solution to this? Did I fail to set something up
properly
in X11R6?
Thanks!

hm, my understanding is R6 is backward compatible with R5.
you should be able to recompile your source without a problem.
even if you don’t have the source, you can still run R6 as a
server for better graphics card support, and run your R5 client
as usual. The X11 protocol is the same.

Photon on Neutrino at some point.
