can't connect via ftp anymore

I just upgraded my tcpip from 4.23 to 4.25. I can no longer connect via
ftp.
I looked at the documentation for ftpd and have all 3 conditions met, but
still can’t connect.

  • username is in passwd file & has valid password.
  • username is not in the /etc/ftpusers file
  • user has shell that is listed in /etc/shells

I get error “530 Login incorrect.” when I try to ftp in.

Is there something else that needs to be done now?

I could connect with 4.23 with just the first 2 things listed above.

That probably has something to do with the security update, which means the
format of /etc/shadow file (the one containing the password) has changed.
Make sure you have the latest security uppdate for the OS and TCP/IP

The security patch for QNX v4.25:
qnx-4.25-08.tarx

The security patch for TCP/IP v4.25:
tcprt-4.25-05.tarx
tcprt-4.25-05A.tarx
(the later is found in the TCPIP_rt2.tar)

Look for them in the ftp.qnx.com

Tony.

Thanks,

That took care of it.

Any idea what some of the others patches on the ftp site are?
There was a tcpip-4.25-02D.tarx. I didn’t see anything in the html file
that
described the individual tarx files.

RE: tcpip-4.25-01D.tarx
This is the latest, patch level D distribution of TCP/IP v4.25, you will need the TCP/IP Security patches tcprt-4.25-05.tarx (and probably tcprt-4.25-05A.tarx)

RE: tcpip-4.25-02D.tarx
This is the patch level D documentation for TCP/IP v4.25

RE: tcptk-4.25-01C.tarx and tcpip-4.25-02C.tarx
This is the patch level C libraries and docs respectively.

This is the patch level C libraries and docs for them respectively (i.e. ToolKit).
