Missing Posts...

A number of posts in a variety of qnx topics that I have been following
recently have disappeared. Is this a common occurance? Anyone else notice
this?

It could be the articles were “cancelled” by the poster, but
I would suggest you look here: http://www.openqnx.com/NewsPortal.html
and if you find the “lost” topics, it means nothing disappeared, it is
your news reader “expires” the articles…

I’ve had the same problem as well. I’m using Outlook Express.

The original “Missing Posts…” post has now diappeared along with all the
responses.

I don’t think Outllook is the problem. Post aging isn’t a problem either as
I’m seeing posts dating back to January in most topics. It’s more like a
file server/storage problem that the newgroup administrators are not aware
of. At one point I thought it might be a form of censorship but there was
nothing offensive in the posts that went missing - the posts were
documenting genuine problems and solutions.

Hi Gord,

Please do not post again and again the same article as you will be
annoying for people who can see every your post. It is not a problem
with the news server. How then can you explain that I can read your
original article and all responses? Nothing disappeared. As Frank said
you can also see your original post here

http://www.openqnx.com/modules.php?
op=modload&name=NewsPortal&file=article&id=258&group=qnx.cafe

So, nothing disappeared. You should really follow the advise and check
the settings of your newsreader. I can’t speak of Outlook or Outlook
Express because I use Microplanet Gravity (another revolutionary
newsreader for win32 ). Here I have menu Newsgroup → Properties…
and a lot of tabs including “Purge” that sets up what to purge and when
purge&compact local database as well as “Filter” tab where I can select
which articles I want to see (all, unread, read, local only, marked as
important or tagged). I believe you have similar settings in your
newsreader. Microsoft’s product must be much more sophisticated

Best regards,
Eduard
