QNX press release on Tridium use of QNX

Tridium Inc., a leader in software for realtime control applications,
has standardized on the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS and QNX Momentics®
development suite for its flagship NiagaraAX Framework platform. QNX
Neutrino will be the sole operating system to power the company’s full
product line, including the JACE embedded controllers and Niagara OEM
runtimes.”

Note the phrase “sole operating system”.

Now let’s see what Tridium has to say about this:

in Europe nobody takes American press releases literally … !!!
It’s amazing that you as US guy tries to do it :wink:

OTOH, hardware vendors want to sell their hardware, why should they fix
themselves on a sole OS ???

Nowadays, even software companies offering 3rd party products can’t
choose QNX as sole OS as QSSL stupidly likes to reduce their focus on
embedded systems … probably not being aware about their advantages
against RTOS competitors in the industrial automation market e.g.

Well … in that area we know only ‘leaders’ … even if they have
nothing to do with ‘real-time control applications’ :slight_smile:

Jace (HW) + Neutrino + Java-VM + NiagaraAX + WEB access and on top a
‘RT’ application couldn’t be a realistic base for ‘real-time’ control :slight_smile:

The main issue of NiagaraAX is remote control …

It’s normal that the marketing of QSSL doesn’t know what they are
talking about. They don’t know their own product and market segments
and they don’t know their competitors.

An other awkward performance is the statement:

“… and QNX is thrilled to be chosen to power the company’s (JVC) new
DVD receiver and monitor,” said Dan Dodge, chief executive officer of
QNX Software Systems."

That means that QSSL is realy ‘thrilled’ about that a member of the
Harman group is using their own ‘inhouse RTOS’ ??
