Chipset support...

…What is the highest Intel chipset covered by drivers for this release?
I’m looking for a system from dell and want to make sure I don’t have any
hardware headaches when I get the new QNX license for work.

You don’t say in your post what type of hardware your interested in. What
you could do is check the enumerator file. If you 're interested in a
graphics card for example, you would look in the “/etc/system/enum/graphics”
file and search for the vender id which is “8086” for Intel, and device id.
If it’s not a graphics card you’re interested in, you can simple look in the
appropriate file found in that same directory.

I can’t really look while I’m at work, I don’t have a system I can install
it on until I purchase one.
However I’m looking at Video, Ethernet, and standard peripherals. I don’t
think I’ve seen anything about Intel Extreme
graphics on the supported hardware, but it doesn’t really look like they
updated the supported hardware list.

The Intel graphics are supported via the i810 driver. I have it driving
my laptop at 1400x1050.

I looked at the enums last night and there seems to be quite a bit of
hardware enumerated in the enums file that is NOT listed in the “Supported
Hardware list.” So now I know what I can order in the system.
I don’t know about anybody else but for my systems engineer, me telling him
I have to roll my own driver for smaller projects is a deal breaker. It’s
enough for them to say we won’t use QNX. From a marketing standpoint if
your going to goto the trouble of putting it in the enums and I would assume
testing it, you should list that hardware SPECIFICALLY as being supported.
I saw the 82865 listed in the enum file, but I know that 845 didn’t work on
some of the previous versions, and I have no way of knowing weather a later
chipset will work by just tweeking the enums file until I have both the
hardware and software. I tried all sorts of tricks to get an ethernet
controller to work on some of the older versions of QNX.

Hi Bob,
I installed the x86 version on an Intel 845 Mb (D845GEBV2) with integrate
graphics (Extreme),
I think you should still find such a system from Dell (of course not last
workhorse).
