Fsys.atapi: It works!

Fsys.atapi v4.25G works on my FUJITSU/Siemens LIFEBOOK B-2175 with Intel
82440MX BusMaster IDE controller.

However, it reports “Generic IDE” on bootstrap.
How to make sure it uses the hardware to maximum?

Tony.

Can you post the output from “show_pci -v”?

Here it is.

Tony.

As it is now I get
“cp -V large-file /dev/null”
at the ~4150 kb/s.

On a test-bench with VIA 82C586A/B (according to Fsys.atapi’s report on
bootstrap) - the speed is ~3 times higher - ~11000 kb/s. And this is with
a crappy HDD there.

In my notebook I’ve got the Toshiba’s MK2023GAS (4500rpm).

Tony.

WinXP reports that my TOSHIBA MK2023GAS is operated on UDMA 2.

Your laptop is ancient  The driver doesn’t have the 0x7199 device id
in it’s supported list, so it will only use PIO mode. I just grabed the
docs from the Intel site and it looks like it should be compatible with
PIIX4. I can send you an experimental version if you like. It may work…

I’m ready and willing!

It really rocks!

Now “cp -V large_file /dev/null” goes at some 18800 kb/s.
The Krten’s “sysmon” shows that ~40% eats Fsys and only ~4% for Fsys.atapi.
With the official version it was reversed - ~50% ate Fsys.atapi and ~3%
had Fsys.

Thanks a lot!

Any chances that Fsys.atapi will support the popular industrial hardware

before QNX v4.25H is released?
I mean http://www.advantech.com/products/Model_Detail.asp?model_id=1-L6JY3
and some others.

Did you not get the email I sent asking for the output from “show_pci -vvv”?

If it was regarding PCA-6773 - then not yet.

I’ll post it here…

It looks like the BIOS isn’t enabling the chip. Can you try starting the
driver as follows:

Fsys.atapi atapi enable

Yes, it did the trick, thank you!
