Boot stops at Hit=Esc foD

Folks:
I have tried burning the CD at various speeds. All it gives is a nice
“Hit=Esc foD” on the top of the screen and goes to sleep.
I don’t know what to do next. I have the activation key etc. but I don’t
get past the f…oD step.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well, My otherwise deadly intellect suggests that I should provide some
hardware specs too:
IBM Intellistation M Pro 2x550MHz PIII
512MB RAM
2 x 36GB SCSI UW HDD
Intel Ethernet …
CD-ROM

Thought this may be of help
Thanks

Can you install boot of the CD on another machine?
The last message you are seeing is badly malformed…which makes me
think that either the image is bad or the CD-ROM drive is bad.

The proper message should read: “Hit Esc for .altboot…”

The “D” at the end of this string (“Hit Esc for .altboot…D”)
generally means that there is a geometry issue with the media you are
booting from. I have never seen this boot from the CD. This generally
occurs with hard disks, as different BIOSs will “auto detect” hard
drives resulting in different disk geometries.

You can try creating a boot floppy using an image included in the iso,
you may be able to use it to kick start the install (boot from floppy,
install from CD) if the CDs problems end at booting.

Regards,

Joe
