Destroy iPAQ

I followed the steps in order to install QNX on my compaq 3870 iPAQ…but
What I got is a screen (the only response is when I press button 4 “undo
button”…I see a green line…or when I write “reboot or reset” on the
hyperterminal, and nothing happen after), I tried to restore the original
iPAQ Operating System by following the steps in
http://eqip.openqnx.com/ipaq_bsp/restore_flash.html”, but I still got the
same screen…

Is this mean that I destroyed my iPAQ???

Please if anyone can help

Thanks in advance.

If you are able to hold the middle button (center of the joypad) down
while you press the reset button and get a boot> prompt over
hyperterminal then you have not killed your iPaq.

For kicks you should try installing one of the more modern Linux distros
for your hardware (GPE, Opie) and make that work first. Once you are
comfortable with that process (as there are a lot more places/people
around to help you out) come back to installing QNX and you will find it
much easier.

Hello

I tried what was intstructed and i was able to get the boot command , then
tried a manual boot —

boot wince

QNX launched

Then i tried to reset the IPAQ – and i face the same problem - it is
unable to launch QNX - I do think it is a problem that the boot loader is
unable to find the image

Any hint how to set the bootloader to boot automatically this image?

Try doing a “boot qnx” from the boot> command line. Does that work or
does it still crash trying to boot (the missing) WinCE?

Hello,

Thanks for ur help
I tried boot qnx but it gives me: “Don’t understand command>qnx< Try help
for a command list”

when i tried boot wince - the qnx os is launched

it seems that the wince file is the qnx file after all.

So when iam trying to do a reset ,may be it starts searching for QNX and
since it is not there , it is not loading
Any hint how to overcome this problem

Regards
Jamal
