Having troubles installing QNX425 on a P4 2.8GHz

Has anybody tried to install QNX 4.25 on an Intel Pentium IV 2.8 GHz?
I’m having problems with this particular one and I don’t know where to start
from…

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Install fines on many machines. Probleme is not the P4 itself, but some
other piece of hardware. Could you give more info about the configuration
of the machine.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I have done this on several such machines. The main problem I have had is
that I sometimes get an error about too many files open, and the later part
of the installation fails. I have fixed this by first installing just QNX,
then rebuilding the kernel with a lot more files by giving Fsys the switch
“-f1000” in the /boot/build file, and then installing the rest of the
system.

The “too many files open” error looks suspicious. Are you using a very
large hard drive? If so, this is a known issue. Check out the “-H” option
of Fsys. (To increase the heap size.) The usage message is self
explanatory.

Good luck.

Yes. that’s exactly what I’m getting… too many files open.
I’ll try to do what you did to fix it.
Thanks!

It’s an Advantech industrial PC, P IV 2.8 GHz. , 1 GB of ram, 120 GB IDE
Hard drive Western Digital, on-board ATI Rage 128 3D video card, 2 on-board
Intel Pro 10/100 network cards (82559). I can get the pdf datasheets of all
the components if needed.
I’ve successfully set up around 20 PCs with the same configuration except
for the processor speed (the others were 2.4 GHz).
For this particular one I get some ‘find:… too many files open’ error
message and after that the installation gets really messy and ends up not
working…

Please tell me if you are interested on any specific aspect of the
configuration of the system or could I just post links to all the
datasheets?

Thanks in advance!

I’ll try this too (mine is a 120GB HD).
Thanks!
