Radeon 9250 supported?

The latest graphics updates state support for the 9200, but not the 9250.
Can I assume that the 9250 is sufficiently different not to be supported?

We also have a 7500 with DVI-I connector. We have a 1600x1200 touchscreen,
which works under VGA with this card, but we cannot get a resolution greater
then 1280x1024 with the DVI-I connector. Would anybody happen to know if
this is a limitation on the card (I haven’t found any literature on ATI
website that would suggest this) or a limitation of Pg.radeon? If a
limitation of the card, any recommendation for one which would work (ATI
prefered).

Richard

Hi Richard,

The 9250 (off by 50) cards are generally OEM built or “value” models of
particular cards.

More info can be found here:

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041110/buyers_guide-16.html

Generally speaking they are the exact same chipsets, but some of the 3D
pipelines may be crippled, or they have less ram or slower clock rates.
In any case 2D drawing is seldomly effected.

I looked through the docs on this controller and nothing said that it
can’t do higher than 1280x1024, however trying it on a Windows system
may help to confirm (or introduce additional questions). I’d try it
out under Windows and see what happens, otherwise it may be a problem
with the driver.

Best regards,

Erick

The autodetect will be losing it. This results in the fallback of vesa or vga drivers, vesa in your case as this is spec’d to 1280x1024.

As Erick has pointed out this is basically the same chip as the 9200 so it’ll work just fine with the radeon driver. This can be forced in the “Advanced” option of the graphics settings by replacing the -dvesabios with -dradeon.

Or you can add an entry to the file /etc/system/enum/devices/graphics. With this method you’ll get all the options appearing in the prefs. It’s quite simple: Grab the device ID using “pci” command then in the file dupicated the entry for the Radeon 9200 and replace the duplicated device ID with the one you got from pci. It even looks like you can enter in a second head if your card has one.

Err, slipup. I was thinking QNX 6.3.0. Sorry

Evan

Thanks for the info. We’ll try the Window’s method to confirm things. It
could also be a problem with the touchscreen we are using.
