Multi Language Support on windows host

Hi,

I’m writing a multi language app on a windows host and have come across a
number of bugs when using the message database editor utility and the
language translator.

  1. phabmsg utility doesn’t appear to have been ported to windows.

  2. phabmsg utility (in QNX6/photon) seems to crash in multi-line mode
(word wrap) whenever you try to edit an existing message.

  3. ‘\n’ isn’t interpreted properly by sprintf() and similar functions when
string is read back from database. Other formatting characters work fine. ?

  4. keycode sequences (such as Alt 130 for é) work OK in windows but cursor
positioning gets screwed up making it impossible to input/edit beyond the
    keycode sequence.

It appears if you want to do multi-language apps you had better do them in
QNX6.

Any ideas for a method to embed ‘\n’ characters in the database ?

Thanks,

Kevin T.

  1. I ported phabmsg to Windows a couple of months ago, for 6.4.

  2. I can’t reproduce the phabmsg crash in 6.3.0 SP1 self-hosted. Which
    release are you using?

  3. Didn’t look into this one yet.

  4. For 6.4 the photon “compose sequences” are supported in PhAB for Windows.
So it’s a lot easier to get multilingual characters entered. I’ve also seen
the extenting problem you mention, and made a note of it, but now I can’t
reproduce it. Can you post a detailed procedure including the font type,
size, where you are typing (which widget), etc.

Regards,
Max

The key compose sequences mess up in the text translation editor,

When is Momentics 6.4.0 going to be released ?

Thanks. I reproduced the extenting (i.e. cursor position) problem in 6.3.0
SP2 and then confirmed that it is fixed for 6.4.0. The fix is due to a font
manager rework that has recently been completed.

I don’t know when 6.4.0 will be released. I imagine it will take a while
because 6.3.0 SP2 is just out now.

Cheers,
Max
