QNX account number for support?

I just installed 6.3.0 for a new customer. The package came with a technical
support card that says go to www.qnx.com for technical support and then
gives an account number and password. Where exactly are these supposed to be
used? The myQNX account asks for an email address and password and doesn’t
say anything about an account number.

Once you have logged into your myQNX account you will be able to
register your products and support plans.

Thanks. Never had access to a support plan before. I’ll pass on the info.

Hi Ken,

If this is Standard Support Plan then you can use it numbers to get access
to the qdn.private.standard newsgroup.

To check that configure your mail program as follows:

  1. newsgroup server → nntp.qnx.com
  2. mark ‘newsgroup server requires login’
  3. account name → account number from your support card
  4. password → password from your support card.

Also with support card numbers you are able to contact the QSS Helpdesk.
For more information read the following guide:

I have tried doing it as you describe (using Outlook Express - don’t blame
me it’s all my company lets me use).
However, whenever I try to access the server an authentication window pops
up re-querying me for the
password.

I have double checked both the account and password numbers repeatedly and I
cannot get it
to work. What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried to register these numbers via myQNX account service?
What does ‘View Account’ show?

You will want to register your support plan under myQNX and then use
your myQNX username and password to access the newsgroup.

Joe

Ah, thanks. That did the trick.
