Momentics text editor

I miss having a good editor and the one in Momentics just doesn’t cut it.

The mouse just gets in the way. Is there any way to program macros and
keystrokes in that editor? There was nothing in the docs that I saw. I miss
fast block marking, easy single key cut and paste operations, split window
scrolling, multi-file editing in single windows, fast learn macros, etc,
etc.

I know I can edit outside of Momentics but that misses the point of the IDE
doesn’t it? I have tried for two months to learn and get used to the editor
but my editing productivity is about half what it was with a good text
editor.

I use a viPlugin that makes an old vi hack like myself feel better.

The popular programmer’s editor SlickEdit has an eclipse plugin -

Take a cruise around http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/index.php too

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the pointer to slick, I’ll give it a try.

It’s got to be better than the QNX4 port they did a few years ago - man, was
that bad.

Is anyone using the SlickEdit plugin for Momentics SP2?

I bought it but during installation it says that this version of Eclipse is
unsupported.

Hmmm, a while ago we did have a 3.0 version (or was it 2.x? can’t remember) but the current release appears to need 3.1.x

I had a similar problem with the Serena Version Manager plug in. To resolve
this, I copied the “.eclipseproduct” (see attachment) file from a standard
Eclipse 3.0 installation to the $QNX_HOST/target/…/qde/eclipse folder.

Thanks!

I have my doubts it will work since Slick is expecting eclipse 3.1 and this
file says 3.0 but I’ll mess around with it. Maybe some judicious editing
will fake it out. But then the question becomes one of what has changed to
make it incompatible with 3.0?

Slick had me download their version 9.05 plug-in which is supposed to work
with eclipse 3.0. But it won’t install either - the installation craps out
with an “unsupported version” error and it’s not talking about the eclipse
version. Still waiting for their tech support to help - they’ve been
extremely slow to answer.
