I want to update to 4.25G an old installation of QNX4. I can´t find
phinstall in the hard disk, is there a way to get phinstall? Do I need to
buy a new QNX CD even if I only need to update this one?

The thing is we don’t have the CD. Our QNX OS came in diskettes back in the
old days. Do I need to buy a new CD or can we get phinstall from somewhere
else?

phinstall is only available on the QNX4 install CD.

phinstall is just a shell script. What you really need is pkginstall
and you need a new one. The older ones do not recognize tarx files.
I have the same problem you do and have not found an answer.
