Using ATI Radeon 9250 card in QNX4

Hi QNX folks!
We have purchased a new video card for our QNX 4 machines, the
ATI Radeon 9250. It will only run on 640x480 resolution. I need to
adjust the resolution to at least 1024x768 for the displays in my
application. Adjusting the resolution at the QNX sysinit.NODE# file
does not help.
I think i have read from previous posting that this chipset is
supported by QNX4. Can somebody please help me on this? A
documentation perhaps on how u were able to configure your machine
for this chipset?

Hello,

Did you try Pg.radeon driver from the latest Photon 1.14 graphics patch?

http://www.qnx.com/download/group.html?programid=8696

QNX 6.3.0 Radeon driver works with Radeon 9250. I hope the things are the same
for the latest QNX 4 driver too… Probably will be needed to add Radeon 9250
PCI ids into /qnx4/graphics/trappers/crttrap.list file.

Regards,
Igor.

hi,

I have downloaded the QNX4-graphics_20051115.tar.gz, the sumcheck was
OK, same as posted.
Our application runs on the QNX Windows graphical interface. I think
we wont be using the photon graphical interface. (Unless its the only
solution).
Our application is actually REALFLEX 4. We want to use radeon 9250 or
Intel 82865 chipsets for the graphics adapter of the machines.
Will these downloaded drivers work for my application? If so, what qnx
files/directories will i work with? how do i invoke the graphics
driver?

Hello,

Those drivers only for Photon GUI only… There is no QNX Windows driver for
last generations of ATI Radeon chips. But our developers offer a workaround for
QNX Windows users. It’s the vbe3 utility, our own-developed analogue of the
standard int10 utility. vbe3 conforms to the VBE3 specifications and supports a
reasonably large list of modern graphics chips, among them

nVidia Riva TNT2
nVidia GeForce (all generations)
ATI Radeon 9200/9600/9800/X700
Intel 815/845/852/855/865
Chip & Technologies 65548

Using vbe3 in combination with QNX Windows gr.vesa2 graphics driver allow to run
QNX Windows on the mentioned graphics chips.

There is an info on the internet, but in Russian only,

QWindows comes with gr.phi, that’s a QWindows driver. It act as a bridge

That being said maybe vbe3 is faster because it’s a native driver. I never

In regards to this, are there any Photon specific files need which are
included in the last release of Photon drivers on qnx? And any
Photon-specific things to get the gr.phi + photon driver running? Haven’t
actually noticed gr.phi in our installs but will have a good look on our
latest installations. Any idea on when this was included in the QNX cd?

Mainly asking these questions as I am totally Photon illeterate, to the
point of only using it on the install CD and having no licenses. Hoping that
you do not actually need Photon or licenses to get gr.phi running… Will
definately save a lot of headache on keeping some of our legacy systems
running.

I THINK gr.phi which is a QWindows driver is included in QWindows not sure.

You only need the graphics driver and mode switcher, you wouldn’t not be
running Photon, hence I don’t beleive there is a need for a license.

Had a look on one of our QNX Windows servers but couldn’t find gr.phi
anywhere, so I’m assuming is was part of qwinph.

Anybody know if it is available on beta or can anyone send it over this
way??
