Net Crashes on Startup...

I’m having difficulty with Net, moving to newer HP hardware running under QNX 4.25. The HP hardware uses a SIS900 lan card and when Net.sis9 is started, Net crashes and the machine locks up. In an attempt to sort out the problem, I have disabled the onboard lan card and tried a Realtek 8139 card (which has worked before with other 4.25 systems). The results with the Realtek card are the same as with the SIS900 - crash and lockup!

With both cards installed and the SIS900 enabled in the BIOS, nettrap query shows:
Net.rtl -I0 -l1 &
Net.sis9 -I0 -l2 &

Starting ‘Net.rtl -I0 -l1 &’ results in the following messages:
%1 + 11040 Running Net.rtl -I0 -l1
net_init: qnx_hint_attach, rtl_IrqHdlr.

If Net is started as ‘Net -v &’, Runtime Error 0035, Runtime Error 0007 messages spew out.

This QNX system has all current patches installed. I have run out of ideas and things to try. Does anyone have some insight into what might be happening?

TIA,
Gord

Please can you post the output from ‘show_pci -v’ as well as the output from ‘sin ver’.

Is there an option to turn off Plug 'n Play in the BIOS? There are no interrupts assigned to either of the network adapters.

There is indeed!

I disabled PnP in the BIOS and now both Net.rtl and Net.sis9 start without problems. This also cured a problem I was having with a USB 2.0 host controller card. And WinXP doesn’t seem to know the difference.

Thanks a million Hugh.

Is there an option to turn off Plug 'n Play in the BIOS? There are no interrupts assigned to either of the network adapters.
