QNX Neutrino - selective installation

Hi guys,

I recently got an evaluation version of
QNX Momentics Development Suite v6.3 (QNX Neutrino RTOS x86 Host)
and installed it on a PIII computer. However, the size of installation is
bigger than 1GB (I excluded Momentics IDE and installed QNX Neutrino SDK
and GNU utilities), and I want to reduce the size of the installation size.

In our application, we only need

  • QNX Neutrino RTOS without Photon
( device drivers, utilities, and so on)

  • C/C++ compiler and TCP/IP related libraries

Of course, I can remove unnecessary components after the installation,
but I rather want to exclude them during installation so that
I can install Neutrino with necessary files on a smaller media.

Does QNX6 provide any selective/interactive installation procedures
like the one in QNX425?

Thanks,

Hoam.

We haven’t found any way either. We do the install and then delete these
directories:

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/armbe

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/armle

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/mipsbe

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/mipsle

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/ppcbe

/usr/qnx630/target/qnx6/shle

I think you miss the point here. The QNX Development Suite is for
developing. So for your actual system that runs your application, you won’t
use the Development Suite CD installation. Instead, you should build your
own boot image that contains only the components you need, plus maybe a
partition on a hard disk with additional stuff, and that’s it!

Well, I understand what you are talking about.
But what I asked about is if QNX6 provides
minimum development tools (like C/C++ compiler and
related libraries) as a “component” or not.

Thanks,

Hoam.
