QNX 6.2.1 was initially installed as self hosted QNX on a Pentium II
system and every thing was fine except the IDE was very slow. Recently the
machine has been replaced by the following
configuration:
Pentium IV 3.0 GHz with HT technology.
915GAV Mother board.
SATA Harddisk interface.
512 MB DDRRAM.
We tried to install self hosted QNX on the new system without any change
in BIOS setting.
SATA harddisk was not detected. So we installed another hard disk on IDE
Interface.
In BIOS the following setting were done:
ATA/IDE Configuration [Legacy]
Legacy IDE Channels [PATA only]
and installed. the first CD 6.2.1A installed (FOR X86 ONLY) completely and
rebooted.
Though while booting the message “unable to allocate resouce:invalid
arguments” was displayed…
But after installing 6.2.1B CD (ALSO FOR X86 ONLY), it rebooted. But on
opening the IDE,
it gave a work bench error and system buider, profiler perspective etc and
associated view
were not present.
Please help.
Wait a while - QNX is planning to release 6.3 Service Pack 3, which will
support S-ATA on Intel Controller Hubs as well as other new hardware. Also
the IDE (introduced in 6.3 SP2) is much better.

Has QNX fixed any date to release SP3?
We are starting a new project. Is it possible to start with new SP3, or to
change to SP3 in the next two months?

You can’t start with it now since it’s not released yet.
Upgrade should be possible, but like any upgrade there are always risks.

hi,
thanks for the info. the work bench problem has been solved though i
do not know whether it is correct way. in help–>software
updates–>install configuration showed IDE installation
incomplete.i just enabled the installation. it completed the
installation and all perspectives are now present.
But the message “unable to allocate resource:invalid
argument” is still displayed while booting.
