Installing QNX 4.25 on 80GB Disk

Hi,

Our product is using QNX 4.25 that is installed from CD of Public Suite June
2000. We used 40GB disk so far (It is suficient for us), but we must use
80GB disks now. We keep getting the “too many open files” errors during
installation. I know about the -f flag of Fsys, but can I make the
installation itself go without the errors?

Hi,

I would recommend using the latest CD (July 2003).

This trick worked for me. I’m not sure it will work on all systems.

  • Put the install CD and BOOT
  • Before clicking on the Next button
  • Open a terminal window
  • Start Fsys using
    Fsys -f 2000 -i 4000 -Hdisk80
  • Click Next button and finish install.

Thanks for the advise, but it did not work for me…

In my system the installation opens a full screen window, and I did not
succeed in opening another one (alt-ctrl-2 that usually works doesn’t help).
Any idea?

Regarding the latest CD - How can I get it? Do QNX give it for existing
customers or do I have to purchase it? Is it just a different installation
program or is it a different version of the operating system?

Thanks for your help.

I think that one is 4.25 patch G included.

The standard answer you will get is contact your local QNX representative…
(www.qnx.com).

Some of the conditions on updates/licensing and so on are very confusing
for the customer, especially QNX4 stuff.
if you have a myqnx account you can download the patches to 4.25 freely.
although make sure the runtime licenses you buy match the minor version you
have.

put option -H215000 to Fsys (no space between H and 215000)
