QNX Windows

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to ‘X-Window’ QNX windows to another machine. The
reason I ask is that we have some very sensitive monitoring and on occasion
I need to log into the systems remotely and ‘broadcast’ our apps running in
qnx windows. I’m wondering if there is a simple solution as I realize there
is always a complicated one.

If you have QNX network between those 2 computers, there was a way of
starting “application” on a different node with display redirected to other
node (argument to GraphicsOpen call).

xhost and setup a telnet session to the

QNX box … and start the X-Windows application on QNX.

If this other machine is Unix/Xwindow, you can use Qwinph/phinx.
If it is MS Windows, you can use Qwinph/phindows

As far as I know you cannot use Qwinph if there is alreay a QWindows session
running on the machine, nor can you use QWinph to mirror an already running
QWindows session.

The word QWMirror is ringing in my head, but I don’t have more info then
thatn.

I think he meant QNX Windows application though, not X-Windows.

There is no easy way to do this I know of. We have done it by having a copy
of all .pict files (where data replaces known tags in those pictures) on
both nodes, and transfering all data via a runtime database and our own
screen handler. This requires alot of programming though.

I think QNX windows can handle dual screens though maybe that would be
enough?

Yes, we have the application running in ‘qnx windows’ and not ‘X windows’. I
guess i was asking a little much for a simple solution  No such thing as
a qnx window emulator i suspect…

The only option I know of is to have QWindows run in Photon with qwinph and
then use phditto/phindows to access the Photon session.
