Installation QNX4 on a Slave EIDE Hard Disk

Is it possible to install QNX4 on a EIDE Hard Disk, connected as Slave from
installation CD, connected as Master?

After installation process I receive recycled messages of the secondary qnx
loader

Press ESC to boot … Press ESC to boot … Press ESC to boot …

If I recoonect EIDE Hard disk as Master and CD as Slave - instllation
finished without problems.

Thank you.

The general rule is that the faster device must be master and the slower
one slave, that is, a CD is generally not able to act as a master for a
slave disk.

This is a hardware constraint not related to the operating system.

That’s the expected behaviour.

But after succsess Installation from Slave CD to Master HD I make a full
copy from Master HD to Slave HD ( cat /dev/hd0 /dev/hd1 ), or reconnect
master HD & slave CD and return to the first configuration: CD-Master,
HD-Slave.

QNX4 booting and working without any problem with this configuration (
Master-CD, Slave-HD), also I can read
info from master-CD under QNX.

Thank you.

Beware!

This copy works fine ONLY within the first 2GB of data and WILL
silently fail beyond that limit!
