VMware/QNX4/Photon

Hello,

I run QNX 4.25 in a virtual machine and have noticed that if I am running
Photon and I leave my host machine long enough that it goes into standby
mode, I am never able to recover the virtual machine. I just have a black
screen and no amount of mouse movement or Ctrl-Alt-Shift-BS reactivetes the
VM. I have to shutdown the VM and restart. This does not seem to happen if
I am just in text mode not in Photon.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? And if so do you have any suggestions
to solve this?

Thanks

I’ve not seen this, but I would make sure the screen saver is
disabled.

Thanks I’ll do that. I think that Photon is configured to blank the screen
after 15 minutes. Perhaps if the screen saver kicks in before the host goes
into standby it isn’t able to recover?

I’ve noticed this too, it is worse on microsoft virtual PC (that works fine
for 4.25 and QWindows) but if you suspend the machine and reawake it there
is a chance of a corrupt filesystem.

Ok, it appears to be unrelated to the screensaver. I disabled it and left
my machine logged into a photon session with the VMware window minimized
over night. This morning I opened th VMware window and saw what I thought
was a good photon session but the machine was locked and had to be reset.
Tonight I will try the same test in text mode.

I checked my VM this morning and all was well. So, it seems the problem is
related to Photon some how?
