I want to use MS windows telnet to access a lab based piece of equipment we
manufacture. This would allow me to get rid of the keyboard and monitor card
that I have to normally plug in to get access to the QNX OS.
We have the TCP/IP stack running on the unit and everything is working well.
The problem is when I try to open a file on the remote machine using vedit.
I get a garbled mess of characters. I assume I do not have something set up
correctly on terminal emulations. Also,
arrow keys in the telnet window do not behave correctly compared to directly
connecting the keyboard and monitor to the QNX machine.
Has anyone had experience doing this and could you tell me what I am fouling
up ? Thanks…
I don’t use vedit myself, but I have had similar problems with other
editors, such as microEmacs. vi always seems to work, and kermit
explicitly supports QNX. I usually just use vi, since kermit for Windows
requires a license. If you had a client that supported the full set of
telnetd options, particularly binary mode, that might fix the problem as
well. You might also try setting your TERM variable on the QNX side to
be one that the Windows telnet client supports; I tried that, and it
made things better, but it was still lousy.

try kermit or putty
Kermit works well even with ditto, putty is works good.
