Hello,

I have just installed QNX 6.2NC on my laptop, which also has WinXP. After installation, the system freezes while “Dectected EIDE. Scanning for Devices”. It goes through a few cycles of the “/” spinning, but then just stops. I was able to run QNX from the CD, before installing.

I’d try typing ‘D’ during the boot when it’s scanning for EIDE devices. That will disable DMA mode for EIDE devices. If any of the EIDE devices are even slightly out of spec it can cause the boot process to hang.
