QNET hostname issue

Hello,

I am trying to use the Qnet service to access the file system of remote machine. My hostname of the remote machine is set to node1 but the name that is reflected on other machine in /net directory is “node1.” and sometimes “node1.net.intra”.

I tried to change the hostname of “node1” to mynodename1 and i see “mynodename1.” on the other machine. Please explain the behavior and how i can remove the dot (.) and domain name from the name string.

I suggest you to use domain.
Just fill that field something like “my” and you will get node1.my and node2.my.
If you do’nt want to use domain at all I do’nt know how to help.
