Can anyone recommend a Windows based tool/utility to de-archive files from a zoo file?

Uh, wow, I think. The last time I used zoo was on a QNX 2 system. I still have a QNX 2 system and it still has zoo. I could suggest running QNX 2 on a VM, although you would still need a way to get files back and forth, not so easy. A 1.44 floppy might do it if the files quit, otherwise it can be tricky.
I don’t know know if WinZip support the zoo format, but you could try.
I was able to download and use Tugzip to extract what I needed.
There was a problem with file name concatentation, and also not creating subfolders, but I worked around those issues.
