SAMBA on QNX 6.1

OK. I know that Samba runs on QNX 6.1, because I see post everywhere saying how well it works… but not for me :frowning:

I just did a basic install if 6.1, went to the CDM 6.1 repository and installed samba. When I try to start any of the daemons (smbd, nmbd) I get:

/usr/sbin/smbd -D

unknown symbol: syslog
Could not resolve all symbols

…am I missing a library?

This error means your samba was compiled for qnx 6.2.
I know cdm has several packages in /repository/6.1 directory actually compiled for 6.2. Apparently, you hit the jackpot :smiley:

I found a version for QNX 6.1 at:www.qnxzone.com/~mritun It is version 2.2.3a… works great!

I wouldn’t be surprised you found mritun’s version working. He is one of the few people who still use qnx 6.1. His reason is different from you. Maybe we should open up another thread “why I am still using qnx 6.1” so that QSSL can fix those and everybody can upgrade :smiley:
